This is your opportunity to fall back in love with teaching while making a difference. In our six-week summer program, The Biggest Winner Math Challenge, you will have the opportunity to work with small groups of advanced and motivated middle school students, network with other teachers like you and build up your virtual teaching tool kit. If you want to have the freedom to try new teaching techniques without the pressure of grades, tests and quizzes, join our selective cohort of instructors this summer! Joining our summer program will also give you the opportunity to be invited to join our UNDIVIDED Teacher Fellowship Program, which provides opportunities throughout the year.

What is The Biggest Winner Math Challenge?

This culturally affirming, engaging, rigorous online learning community was designed for students with advanced ability or interest in mathematics. Our project based learning curriculum is designed to build math mastery while exploring SEL competencies, encouraging self-expression, enhancing financial literacy, working in peer groups to solve real world life issues all while using the latest digital education platforms.

What is Undivided Teacher Fellowship?

The goal at Undivided is to build a community of conscious educators that believe in the craft of teaching in and beyond the classroom. By being a part of Undivided you will be able to continue networking with like-minded teachers and to receive additional training depending on your level of experience and future education-field goals. Being a part of this fellowship means you will also be notified as soon as job opportunities in our programs open up.

Position Summary

Summer 2023 Ed Inquiry Instructors will work with 3 groups of 15 students that enjoy math for six weeks in a virtual classroom. Your classes will use a blended learning curriculum and engaging, culturally affirming content created by a multi-cultural collective of leading educators. Instructors will also have the opportunity to mentor a trained high school intern assigned to them, who will assist in their virtual classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, engaging, and fun online environment conducive to learning
  • Lead students through a real world math-focused class project
  • Inspire students to think deeper about math concepts embedded in the
  • Common Core
  • Teach Common Core aligned math skills for grades 6th through 9th
  • Learn and share the latest learning strategies related to social-emotional growth and survival
  • Work with trained high school intern assistant with desire to become an educator
    Train and collaborate with math educators across the country virtually
  • Become a contributor to a unique and innovative math program sponsored

Qualifications:

  • Proven success as an educator who can inspire children
  • Aptitude and desire to make math fun for students
  • Demonstrable experience teaching elementary, middle and/or high school math
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and on-screen persona
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a classroom setting preferred
    Familiarity with math competitions is a plus
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with students, staff and colleagues around the program’s objectives, goals, and expectations

Education

  • Bachelor degree in education, mathematics, analysis or related field from an accredited college or university

Workdays / Hours

  • Teaching days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
    Half days on Thursday for common planning time
  • Three 2-hour sessions of synchronous instruction per day
  • Must be able to commit to an assigned daily schedule throughout the summer
    Must be able to commit to the full 6 week session block
  • Flexible teaching blocks available throughout the day
  • Accommodates instructors from all time zones
  • US based instructors only
